When buying an electric forklift from China, separate factory screening from inspection of the finished truck. First establish who will build and support the equipment. Then check the identified machine against the agreed order. A useful electric forklift inspection checklist records the requirement, checking method, result and unresolved issues.
Start with the purchase requirement
Inspection cannot resolve every question left open at ordering. Agree the model, configuration, intended application and acceptance requirements before production. Identify which documents must be available and which checks require specialist support.
For a small order, use a proportionate plan. One truck still needs a clear identity and configuration, but the scope should reflect the equipment and risks rather than copy a generic consumer-product checklist. Define whether the assignment includes a factory visit, finished-equipment checks, loading supervision or several separate stages.
Verify who makes the truck and who signs the agreement
Clarify the relationship between the sales company, manufacturer, payment recipient and warranty provider. A trading company is not automatically unsuitable; the problem is an unclear or misleading arrangement. Record which party is accountable for each part of the order.
An agreed factory visit can examine the physical operation, relevant assembly processes, testing arrangements, quality records and work in progress. Ask which important components are sourced externally and how incoming parts are identified and checked.
A tidy showroom does not establish production capability, and equipment such as a welding robot does not prove the proposed truck meets your requirements. The useful evidence relates to the actual model, production route and quality controls.
| Report field | Example of what it should identify | Why it helps |
|---|---|---|
| Requirement | Order configuration or agreed checking criterion | Shows what the result is compared against |
| Machine identity | Model and serial number | Connects evidence to the actual truck |
| Method and conditions | Visual check, measurement or witnessed demonstration | Defines the evidence and its limits |
| Result | Conforming, discrepancy or not verified | Avoids an unsupported blanket pass |
| Follow-up | Correction, evidence and recheck requirement | Makes issue closure reviewable |
Freeze the configuration in writing
Make the order specification specific enough to check. Include mast and forks, relevant capacity information, tyres, battery, charger, motor or controller references where specified, accessories, manuals and requested spare parts.
State how substitutions are proposed and approved. A factory should not discover at final inspection that you expected a particular component it never agreed to supply. Keep approved changes with the order so the inspector works from the latest version.
Before the visit, confirm that the equipment is complete enough for the planned checks and that the required documents, safe test area, personnel and tools will be available.

Identify the machine before recording results
Record the truck's model and serial identification, then connect photographs and documents to that machine. Compare accessible component identifiers with the order. Note missing labels, mismatched references and items that cannot be accessed.
Photographs support traceability but have limits. A controller label does not by itself establish authenticity. A battery label does not independently prove internal cell grade, usable capacity or long-term life. If those claims matter to the order, agree suitable traceability evidence or specialist testing in advance.
Agree the demonstrations and measurement methods
Typical purchasing checks can cover accessible dimensions, visible condition, leaks, included items and agreed functional demonstrations. Specialist measurements need the appropriate criteria, access, tools and competent personnel.
Loaded lifting, braking or ramp demonstrations require a manufacturer-approved procedure, appropriate loads, a suitable site and qualified operators. Keep every task within the equipment's approved limits. An inspector should not improvise an emergency test or seek maximum capability through trial and error.
Record the conditions and limitations as well as the result. If a demonstration is unavailable, say it was not performed. A short video of an unloaded truck moving is not evidence that every specified performance requirement has been checked.
Make corrective actions visible
A useful report distinguishes observed defects, specification differences, missing documents and unverified items. Link each issue to a photograph or record where possible, state the required response and agree how closure will be assessed.
A promise to repair is not evidence that the repair is complete. Some issues can be closed with clear supporting records; others need reinspection or a repeated agreed test. Do not mark an unverified item as passed to make the report look complete.
Payment and shipment decisions should follow the purchase agreement and the buyer's review of the evidence. Inspection findings inform that decision; they do not transfer every commercial responsibility to the inspector.
Check the handover as well as the truck
Before shipment, review the packing list, manuals, component identification, agreed spare parts and relevant documents. Coordinate actual shipping dimensions and weight with the freight provider. If packaging or loading checks are included, define when they happen and what will be recorded.
Battery transport requirements depend on the configuration and shipment. Ask the freight provider to confirm the applicable documents and arrangements. Keep import responsibilities, destination delivery and unloading clear before dispatch.
Factory acceptance does not complete the buyer's local commissioning, operator training or site assessment. Plan who will receive the equipment and support its first use.
Keep pre-shipment inspection separate from daily checks
Someone searching for an electric forklift inspection checklist may need an operator's pre-use checklist rather than a purchasing inspection. These serve different stages. The manufacturer's daily and maintenance instructions remain relevant after delivery.
This guide covers order verification and shipment preparation. It does not provide a universal operating checklist or certify that a truck meets every destination requirement. GCB can help coordinate an agreed purchasing scope and identify when specialist review is needed.
Frequently asked questions
Is a factory audit the same as forklift inspection?
No. Factory assessment examines the operation and capability. Finished-equipment inspection checks an identified truck against agreed requirements.
Is an online video enough?
It may answer a specific question, but it does not replace a defined inspection scope or show every relevant condition.
Can GCB perform every engineering test?
Specialist work requires appropriate expertise, equipment and procedures. The agreed scope should distinguish coordination, observation and specialist testing.
Does inspection prove battery cell grade?
An ordinary visual inspection does not prove internal cell grade. Agree the traceability and specialist evidence needed for that claim.
Should a repaired defect be reinspected?
Choose the closure method according to the issue. Some need an on-site recheck or repeat test rather than a supplier message.
Is this a daily operator inspection checklist?
No. It is a procurement and pre-shipment planning guide. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and local requirements for daily use.
